공공역사: 개념, 역사, 전망 = Public History in Germany: Concept, History and Perspective

국문 초록 (Abstract)

공공역사는 대학과 학계의 외부인 공공영역에서 이루어지는 다양한 역사 재현이다. 공공역사는 과거에 대한 공공의 의식과 접근성을 확대하는데 의의가 있다. 역사학은 한편으로 역사에 대한 대중의 폭발적 수요와 사회적 요구에 능동적으로 응하면서도 다른 한편으로는 이 학문과 사회의 새로운 소통의 문제를 분석하고 연구해야 한다. 공공역사는 역사가 재현되고 해석되는 방식을 바꾸고 있기 때문이다. 아울러 상업화나 학문적 엄밀성의 소실 우려 등 공공역사에서 생겨날 위험에도 주목해야 한다.
독일은 공공역사의 보고다. 역사박물관과 역사전시, 역사재단과 역사기념, 역사저술서와 매체, 전통과 역사유적지 조성, 역사정책과 과거사 정리, 역사 인물의 기념과 추모 논쟁, 지역별 다양한 문화축제, 시민 역사교육과 정치교육, 아카이브와 공동체 역사 프로제트 등. 독일의 공공역사의 양상을 분석하고 소개하는 일은 한국 사회의 공적 역사 인식과 재현을 둘러싼 정치적 학문적 토론의 발전에 크게 기여할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Public history can be understood as the diverse representation of the history outside the university and professional studies of the history. It aims to widen public awareness and accessibility to the past. The academic studies of the history have not only to respond to the social demand and popular need of the history, but also to analyse the new mode of the communication between the scholarship and the society on the historical discussion. Public history has changed the way history is presented and interpreted. But, the historians have to confront with the risks resulted from the new way of the representation of history as commercialism and the loss of academic rigidity.
Gemany has got a variety of aspects and developments of the historical representation in the public sphere as historical museums and exhibitions, heritage managements, politics on historical justice, political and historical education, popular writing on history and media history, and archive and community history projects. Our analyse and guide of the German public history in this journal can make a meaningful contribution to the Korean political and academic discussion on the public representation of history.
