정보화시대의 기업체 생산성에 대한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국의 기업조직체에 관한 사회학적 접근을 통해 생산성을 둘러싼 쟁점과 효과에 대한 분석을 시도한다. 이를 위해 기존의 지배적인 시각인 구조주의 관점을 비판적으로 검토하고 조직 맥락적 차원을 포함시킴으로써 기업체 생산성에 관한 새로운 분석틀을 제시하며 이에 대한 실증적인 연구를 시도한다. 측정변수와 가설설정은 이론적ㆍ경험적 맥락에서 선택하되 사회학적 통찰력을 여하히 제공할 수 있느냐의 여부에 따라 이루어진다. 조직체의 생산성 측정은 객관성이 보장되는 재정적 측면에서 이루어지며, 층화된 무작위 표집방법에 의해 추출된 120개 기업체에 관한 조직정보를 회귀분석법을 통해 검증한다. 분석결과는 조직의 크기가 조직체의 생산성과 관련하여 여전히 중요한 변수임을 나타내지만, 기존의 기업체 운영방식인 수출중심의 발전전략, 재벌체제, 가족경영 등의 변수는 더 이상 효과적이지 않은 것으로 추정된다. 이러한 변화는 정보네트워크 체계 및 IT 투자, 특별수입금, 기업연령 등의 변수가 기업체 생산성에 좀더 의미 있게 영향력을 행사한다는 분석결과에 의해 확인됨으로써 정보화 과정에 따른 새로운 전략이 필요함을 제시하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The primary purpose of this paper is to explore the relative uptake of IT in firm's productivity in South Korea, provoking a sociological approach into the area. A critical review on the theoretical underpinnings of the previous structural perspective suggests a new perspective on the issue, considering the organizational-contextual perspective. Using multiple regression analysis of productivity in financial robustness, the paper indicates the size variable is still important to improve firm's productivity. Rather surprisingly the previous mechanisms in the country such as export-oriented strategy, conglomeration with chaebol, and family running factors are no longer work. The result also shows the importance of information network system and IT investment as well as unusual income and firm's age in affecting firm's productivity. Alternative explanations for the results are presented and macroeconomic and developmental factors peculiar to South Korea are discussed.
