통합 교육과정의 구성 방식에 관한 일고(一考) = A Study on the Ways of Integrating the Curriculum Contents

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 현행 통합 교육과정의 구성 방식에 대한 고찰을 토대로, 비교적 실제적인 통합 방식을 제안한 Fogarty의 통합 방식 모형 중에서 어떠한 모형이 현행 통합 교육과정에 적합한 것인지, 그리고 실제로 어떻게 구성될 수 있는지에 대해 논의하는 것이다. Fogarty의 모형 중에서 “여러 교과 간의 연계를 통한 통합 모형”은 분과 교과를 다양한 방식으로 통합하는 데 실제적인 도움이 된다. 특히 계열형과 거미줄형은 주제 중심의 접근 방식이며, 공유형과 통합형은 개념 중심의 접근 방식이다. 또한 실로 꿴 형은 문제 중심의 접근 방식에 가까운 통합 방식이 된다. 본 연구의 결과, 현행 통합 교육과정에서 즐거운 생활은 ‘거미줄형’ 통합 방식으로, 슬기로운 생활은 ‘공유형’ 통합 방식으로, 바른 생활은 ‘실로 꿴 형’ 통합 방식으로 구성될 수 있음을 예시적으로 제시하였다. 향후 교육과정 통합 노력은 저학년에만 국한될 것이 아니며, 담임교사 중심의 초등학교 교과 운영 현실에서 고학년 교육과정에서의 통합 노력이 필요하며, 각 교과의 위계와 구분이 분명한 중등학교의 경우에도 종적 통합 방식에 의한 각 교과간 통합 노력이 요구된다고 볼 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to review a number of integrated curriculum models developed and investigate on the ways for integrating and designing the curriculum contents in elementary school. The primary objective of this study is to suggest ways to integrate and design the curriculum contents for grades 1 and 2. Fogarty s curricular connections model was found to be the most promising for constructing the integrated curriculum. In specially, the sequenced and webbed model are related to theme-based integration , the shared and integrated model are to concept-based integration , and the threaded model is focused on the meta-skill that intersects the very heart of any and all subject matter contents. As a result, three approaches to curriculum integration include webbed model(Pleasant Life), shared model(Intelligent Life), and threaded model(Disciplined Life) in this study. This study concludes with the implications that teachers can use these models and design for integrating the curricular in primary school level, and it is necessary for teachers to integrate among the subject matters in the middle school.
