공군 군의관의 법의학적 지식, 경험 및 교육요구도 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

군 내 사망사고 발생 시 군의관에게는 다양한 법의학적 역할이 부여된다. 따라서 본 연구는 공군 군의관의 법의학적 지식, 경험 및 교육요구도를 파악하고 상관관계를 분석함으로써 공군 군의관의 법의학적 대응능력을 향상시키기 위한 기초자료를 확보하기 위하여 시도되었다. 연구의 대상자는 2019년~2023년 기간 내 공군에서 복무하거나 복무 중인 군의관 178명이었으며 연구도구는 일반적 특성 10문항, 법의학적 지식 40문항, 법의학적 경험 12문항, 교육요구도 5문항으로 구성된 구조화된 설문지를 사용하였다. 2023년 8월 14일~ 2023년 8월 18일까지 비대면 온라인 설문조사 방식으로 자료수집 후 SPSS 29.0 통계 프로그램을 이용해 분석하였다. 연구결과 공군 군의관의 법의학적 지식에서 의사의 역할과 법적 상황에 대해 4점 만점에 2.57점 이상으로 일정 수준의 지식을 갖고 있으나 다양한 기전에서 발생할 수 있는 손상, 질식 등과 같은 세부적인 내용에 대해서는 4점 만점에 2.12점 이하로 낮게 나타났다. 법의학적 경험은 4점 만점에 1.53점으로 다소 낮게 나타났으며 업무 경험과 어려움 경험 모두 민간에서보다 군에서 더 낮게 나타났다. 법의학 교육요구도는 4점 만점에 2.72점으로 높게 나타났으며 군 내 교육 신설 시 1~2시간의 특강 형태 또는 온라인 교육을 선호하는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 법의학적 지식과 경험이 통계적으로 유의한 양의 상관관계(r=0.330, p<0.001)가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
위의 연구결과를 통해 올바른 교육을 통한 지식 확보 기회 확대와 간접경험 기회 제공은 법의학적 대응능력을 향상시킨다는 것을 알 수 있으며, 공군 군의관의 법의학적 역량을 강화하기 위해 법의학 교육 프로그램과 업무 프로토콜 개발이라는 조직적 차원의 노력이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose: In the event of a fatal accident within the military, various forensic roles are assigned to military doctors. Therefore, this research was conducted to gather foundational data to enhance the forensic responsiveness of Air Force military doctors by examining their forensic knowledge, experience, and educational needs and analyzing the correlations.
Methods: The study included 178 Air Force military doctors who served or were serving in the Air Force from 2019 to 2023. The research instrument comprised a structured questionnaire with 10 items on general characteristics, 40 items on forensic knowledge, 12 items on forensic experience, and 5 items on educational needs. Data were collected through an online survey from August 14, 2023, to August 18, 2023, and analyzed using SPSS 29.0 statistical software.
Results: The research findings revealed that Air Force military doctors had a certain level of knowledge (scored 2.57 or higher out of 4) regarding the role of a physician and legal situations. However, their knowledge on specific details such as injuries, suffocation that could occur in various scenarios was lower, scoring 2.12 or below out of 4. Forensic experience scored relatively low at 1.53 out of 4, with both work and challenging experiences being lower in the military compared to the civilian sector. The demand for forensic education scored high at 2.72 out of 4, indicating a preference for 1-2 hours of special lectures or online education when introducing military education. Additionally, a statistically significant positive correlation (r=0.330, p<0.001) was found between forensic knowledge and experience.
Conclusions: The study results suggest that expanding knowledge acquisition opportunities through proper education and providing indirect experiential opportunities can enhance forensic responsiveness. Organizational efforts, such as the development of legal education programs and work protocols, are deemed necessary to strengthen the forensic competence of Air Force military doctors.
