    Pyrazolopyrimidine, pyrazolopyridine and thienopyrimidine derivatives as central core have been recently investigated due to their biological and chemotherapeutic importance such as anticancer activity, aintimicrobial activity and anti-inflammatory activity.
    In this study, new pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrimidinylthienopyrimidine and pyrazolo-
    [3,4-b]pyridinylthienopyrimidine were designed and synthesized by integrating pyrazolopyrimidine or pyrazolopyridine into the thienopyrimidine core.
    Novel 4-(3-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-1-yl)thienopyrimidine derivatives were successfully synthesized by the reaction of 3-phenyl-1-
    (thienopyrimidin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-5-amine with a novel Vilsmeier agents using formamide and POCl3. And, 3,4,6-triphenyl-1-(thienopyrimidin-4-yl)-
    1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine-5-carbonitrile were also efficiently synthesized from the one-pot reaction of 3-phenyl-1-(thienopyrimidin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-
    5-amine, benzaldeyde derivatives and benzoylacetonitrile as a multi-component reactions (MCRs).
