The Rupose of this study were: 1)to find out the change in the children` personality type development and its dynamic. 2)the meaning of this change in relation to the Korean socio-cultural dimension. 3)basic informations necessary for a healthy personality development for children. A longitudinal study was designed for 400 3rd grade school children started on 1995 to 1998. The MMTIC was administered each year for these children for 4 years. The results were as followings: There was a statistically meaningful change in J-P preference between different grades. The change was greater compare to other preferences. In S-N preference, there was no change. There was a difference in gender with T-F preference which was statistically meaningful. The result shows that the development of attitude(E/I, J/P)is easily observable in the interaction with the environment compare to the development of the psychological function (S/N, T/F). The gender role which is the result of the socio-cultural influence is on the development of the T/F preference in the early age. The rate of the U-band decreases consistently as the grade gets higher however the pattern breaks down between the 5th and 6th graders in all four preferences. This complicated broken pattern may indicates that the complicated inner psychological development of the pre-teenagers go through which needs to be researched further.
