기독교와 정치 -미국과 한국의 복음주의를 중심으로 = Christianity and Politics: Focused on Evangelical Christians in the United States and South Korea

The relationship between Christianity and politics is a complex subject on which there has been a lot of disagreement throughout the whole history of church, as dissensus between the right and left-wing Christians these days. South Korea is no exception for this matter. Noting the American legacy in Korean Protestantism, I have delved into some issues with political participation by the evangelical Christian church in the United Sates and South Korea. In order to understand American evangelicals` recent participation in politics, first of all, I have made special effort to examine cultural change and its implications since the 1960s to the 2000s in the United States. And then I have outlined and contrasted some sorts of political participations by the two factions of the Korean Protestant church, namely, the evangelical majority and the progressive minority, from 1945 to the present. Finally, I have tried to compare the evangelicalism of America and Korea in terms of the relationship between religion and politics.
