유라시아 춤 문화 교류의 시원(始原) - 1920년대 경성의 〈예술학원(藝術學院)〉 을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 우리사회에서 서양의 무도 열풍의 시원이라고 할 수 있는 1920년대 〈예술학원(藝術學院)〉의 강습활동과 무도회 및 공연 활동을 통해 1920∼30년대 대표적인 유럽 문화인 무도문화의 근대 경성으로의 유입경로와 그 향유공간이자 유흥공간이었던 카페에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 이를 토대로 경성에서 유라시아 춤문화의 교류현황과 대중화 역할에 대해 논의한다. 그리고 당시 우리사회에서 유행하던 카페와 경성의 신세대들의 유라시아 춤문화의 소비패턴과의 상관관계를 알아보고 이를 통하여 근대시기 우리사회에서 유라시아 춤문화의 현황과 위치 그리고 그 내재된 의미를 조망해 보고자 한다.
연구방법은 1920∼30년대 발행된 신문『동아일보』, 『매일신보』, 『조선일보』 및 잡지 『개벽』, 『삼천리』, 『조광』 그리고 당시 문화를 연구한 논문과 저서 등의 관련 학술연구물들의 문헌분석을 사용하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigates the inflow of European ballroom dance culture, the situations of cafes as commercial entertainment venues and the role of popularization in modern ballroom dance and the process of Eurasian dance and cultural interchange through the activities of Yesulhakwon (the Academy of Arts) in Seoul in 1920s-30s. The author examines the correlation between the cultural consumption pattern of Seoul’s new modern generations and the culture of modern cafe which was enjoyed in Korean society at that time, and understand the implicit meaning of ballroom culture in Korean culture.
Research Methods include literature and library research including academic works and related articles published in the daily newspapers (Donga Ilbo, Maeil Shinbo, Chosun Ilbo) and magazines (Gaebeok, Samchulli, Jogwang) in 1920s-30s.
