This research examined the extent to which abusive supervision of casino managers is associated with deviant behavior of dealers, and investigated whether emotional intelligence moderates this relationship. In a sample of 313 casino dealers, abusive supervision of casino managers predicted deviant behavior of dealers after controlling for emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence was related to lower levels of abusive supervision and deviant behavior. The relationship between abusive supervision and employees` deviance was moderated by emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence may act as an adaptive coping resource in that positive association between abusive supervision and employees` deviance became significantly weaker for respondents with high emotional intelligence.
