말-사물 동일성 그리고 논리-문법 공간 존재론

국문 초록 (Abstract)

졸고는 말과 사물 간에 어떤 근원적 동일성을 드러내려는 노력이다. 못지않게 중요한 것은 말-사물 동일성 논제를 드러내는 졸고의 방법이다. 논리-문법 개념이 그것이다. 기호가 사물을 가리키기 위한 조건은 저 기호가 놓일 언어에서의 어떤 자리를 지정해 주는 논리-문법이다. 그런데 이 때에 논리-문법 규칙들은 의미를 비로소 결정하기 때문에 혹은 구성하기 때문에, 그것들은 독립적으로 주어져 있는 이른바 “의미”에 근거를 두고 있지 않다. 논리 문법은 이른바 “실재”에 책임이 없으며 그런 뜻에서 (그리고 오직 그런 뜻에서) 자의적이다. 결과적으로, 논리-문법에 따라 사용되는 기호는 그 자신이기 위해서 그 자신 아닌 것에 의존하지 않는다. 그 자신이기 위해서 그 자신 아닌 것에 의존하지 않는 그러한 자립을 우리는 “사물”이라 부른다. 그렇다면 논리-문법에 따라 사용되는 기호는 그 자신 사물이다. 다른 한 편으로, 사물 일반 개념은 논리-문법에 따라 사용되는 기호 개념에 다름 아니다. 후자는 말 개념이므로, 이렇게 해서 졸고는 논리-문법 개념을 매개로 삼아 말개념과 사물 개념이 근원적으로 하나인 뜻을 드러낸다. 이후 졸고는 그 간에 말-사물 동일성과 반대 방향으로 우리의 사고를 유인했던 오해들을 확인하고 교정한다. 마지막으로, 저와 같이 확인되고 강화된 말-사물 동일성 논제로부터 어떤 특정한 존재론이 추출될 것인데, 논리-문법 공간 존재론이 그것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This essay brings to light a kind of fundamental - internal - identity between word and object, with the concept of logico-grammar as the catalyst. Logico-grammar is necessary for a word to refer to an object. It indicates the post at which we station the word. And logico-grammar is arbitrary, in the sense that it is not accountable to any reality. That is to say that a word as used in accordance with logico-grammar is an entity that depends on nothing but itself in order for it to be what it is. Such an entity we call an “object.” In this sense, a word in connection with logico-grammar is itself an object. On the other hand, the general concept of an object is nothing but the concept of a word as used in accordance with logico-grammar. In the course of in this way bringing out a kind of fundamental ? internal ? identity between word and object, we also find ourselves equipped to dismantle the reasonings or rather misunderstandings that have hitherto tempted us to think otherwise. Finally, I develop the word-object identity thesis into a hitherto neglected and yet important ontology, which I dub as “logico-grammatical space ontology.”
