선택이 불안한 청년을 위한 기독교 소그룹 교육 = Christian Education for Young Adults who are unsure of their choice

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In an unstable society with high social and personal anxiety, young people are experiencing “choice anxiety.” The youth, known as adult explorers, require many choices. However, as the consumption culture of postmodern society creates unlimited options, young people’s choice anxiety is increasing. Young people who postpone important choices show hedonism, consistent with ignorance and denial, and enjoy the possibility of undecided states to resolve the anxiety of choice. The consumer society converts the anxiety of choice into a consumption choice, and the consumption choice of young people is expressed by social problems such as self-show identity, an increase in the number of unemployed young people, and a change in marriage views. Of course, there are young people who express their beliefs as consumption behavior, but most choose batting average consumption that pursues social recognition. The hierarchical social structure that invalidates meaningful choices also creates a sense of consumer self-identity, increases the commercial value of personal life, and induces social standards. However, if young people replace autonomous choices with batting average consumption choices in pursuit of their need for recognition, young people’s autonomy in choice will regress.
This study proposes Christian education that promotes the autonomous choice of young people living in a society of unlimited consumption choices. It proposes small group education that distinguishes and supports young people’s autonomous choices. A small group of people is a discerning community that helps trial and error in choices, affirming good choices and helping to distinguish the batting average of choices. It has an educational effect of improving the autonomy of choice while satisfying the youth’s sense of belonging. Small group education, which promotes young people’s autonomous choices, first causes young people to deviate from the external control and online consumption culture that promotes batting average choices. In order to deviate from the online consumption culture, self-directed education on consumption must be implemented. Second, existential experience education is needed. The education of being experience is the education that induces the experience of love through Bible meditation and the discernment education of truth. Finally, it is an education that identifies the internal motivation of young people, that is, their inner passion. One’s own unique passion has the ability to imagine and embody the hopes of an individual’s life and society.
This study can contribute to identifying the close relationship between consumption choice and consumption discourse in the form of voluntary obedience of young people and to appealing the need for Christian education to promote autonomous selection.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

새로운 불안의 사회에서 청년들은 많은 불안을 겪는다. 그 가운데 청년의 불안은 ‘선택의 불안’에 가깝다. 성인모색기라 불리는 청년기는 취업, 경제적 자립, 연애와 결혼 등 많은 선택을 감당해야 하고 그 때문에 불안하고 두렵다. 그런데 후기현대사회의 소비문화가 무제한 선택지를 만들면서, 청년의 선택 불안은 더욱 가중되었다. 선택이 불안하고 그것을 유보 또는 포기하는 청년들을 3포, 5포 혹은 n포 세대라고 부른다. 청년의 선택 불안은 자기 과시적 정체감, 미취업 청년층 증가, 결혼 유보 등의 사회적 현상으로 나타난다. 무지와 부인, 쾌락주의 역시 청년의 선택 불안을 반영한다. 이런 청년들에게 소비사회는 선택 불안을 ‘소비적 선택’으로 전환하도록 설득한다. 물론 자기 신념을 소비행위로 표출하는 청년들도 있겠지만, 대다수가 보다 쉽게 소비적 선택을 한다. 소비담론의 설득에 힘입어, 오늘날 청년의 소비적 선택은 자발적 복종의 형태를 띠고 있다. 곧 청년의 소비적 선택과 디지털 사회의 소비담론은 밀접한 관계가 있다. 만약 청년들이 인정욕구를 좇아 자율적 선택을 타율적 소비선택으로 대체한다면, 청년의 선택 자율성은 퇴보할 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 무제한 소비선택의 사회를 살고 있는 청년의 자율적 선택을 촉진하는 교육방편으로, 소그룹 교육을 제안한다. 소그룹은 청년의 소속감을 충족시켜 주면서, 선택의 시행착오를 분별하는 집단으로 자율적 선택을 지지하고 촉진할 수 있다. 청년의 자율적 선택을 촉진하는 소그룹 교육은 첫째 타율적 선택을 조장하는 외부적 조절, 온라인소비문화로부터 이탈시키는 소비반성 교육이다. 둘째 선택의 규범을 내부적으로 형성시키는 존재의 교육이다. 존재경험을 유도하는 쉼의 교육 그리고 진리를 분별하는 교육이다. 셋째 청년의 내부적 동기, 곧 내면의 열정을 파악하는 교육이다. 청년들은 다양한 열정으로 분산되어 있고, 분산된 열정은 선택을 어렵게 만든다. 자기만의 고유한 열정은 선택지의 비중, 가치를 분별하면서 스스로 선택의 한계를 파악하도록 한다. 본 연구는 청년의 선택이 소비사회의 담론에 의하여 오염된 것을 어필하고, 기독교교육이 소비적 담론에 맞서서 청년들의 자율적 선택을 촉진하고 지지할 것을 제안한다.
