One of the key success factors in sports goods market is design. Nike is the number one sports and fitness goods company in the world. Nike is originally the winged goddess victory according to Greek mythology. Today, Nike is one of the symbols of sports. Competitive advantages of Nike are design and marketing, not manufacturing, Nike has successfully combined and applied marketing concept in design field from its foundation, 1962. Through this approach, Nike has experienced healthy growth throughout most of its history. The purpose of this case study is to investigate Nike's design.
The contents of this case study are constructed as follows.
1) A brief history of Nike, 2) Nike's business management and operation practices such as manufacturing, marketing, sales, etc. 3) Nike's design system and its role, design and product strategy 4) Design in Nike. In design session, several real design cases are analyzed in detail such as interview with Nike's design director, Nike's brand design-Swoosh and Air Jordan XIII product.
