Chungceongnam-do which has benefited from environmental regulations imposed on metropolitan areas, is now facing a difficult time considering various environmental problems. An analysis of resident complaints in Chungcheongnam-do revealed 56.0% of all complaints related to the environment, and more than half of them related to environmental pollution. In particular, it showed that 5.2% of Chungcheongnam- do residents had been exposed to harmful chemical substances discharged by factories.
Based on these findings, it is necessary to integrate urban planning and environmental planning and designate environmental protection zones. This study could be a trigger to protect environmental rights of residents and to help them to live a life in environmentally better places.
