    최근 국내에서는 체육교직이 급격히 부상하고 있으며 체육교사가 되고자 하는 지원자가 급증하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 현재 우리나라에서 체육교사교육에 관한 논의는 매우 미약한 실정이다 바람직한 체육교사의 이상과 자질에 관한 체계적이고 학술적인 논의가 부족한 형편이다. 본 연구는 지난 삼십여 년 간 구미를 중심으로 펼쳐진 체육교사교육론에 관하여 정리하여 분석하고 시사점을 찾기 위하여 행해졌다. 그리하여 국내에서도 체육교사교육에 관한 본격적 논의가 진행될 수 있는 디딤돌을 마련하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 1970년대와 1980년대, 1990년대, 그리고 2000년대에 각자 유행한 기능적 접근, 반성적 접근과 비판적 접근, 그리고 후기근대적 접근과 인문적 접근의 배경과 특징을 각각 둘째 절, 셋째 절, 넷째 절에서 다룬다. 다섯째 절에서 는 각각의 접근이 갖는 특징들을 종합적으로 비교하고 분석하여, 서로 다른 접근들에 대하여 체육교사교육자가 어떠한 태도를 취해야 할 것인가를 살펴본다. 마지막 절에서는 한국에서의 체육교사교육 논의가 활성화되기 위하여 반드시 요청되는 세 가지 과제를 제시한다.

    There has been an increasing trend among physical education (1`E) majors to become a PE teacher. The application rate for the hiring exam is ever increasing continuously. However, little discourses on PE teacher education (TE) has been exchanged. The systematic and disciplined discourses on the qualities of best PE teachers have not been active in Korea. For the last three decades, a great deal of discussion has been conducted on the traits of desirable PE teachers in western countries. Based on the discussions, they have developed systematic models for the preparation of PE teachers. It is very urgent for us to begin this kind of discussion in Korea in order to educate better PE teachers. The purpose of this study is to review the trends in PEI E for the last three decades, and identify future tasks for PE 1`E in Korea. The dominant approaches in each decade, the technocratic approach in 1970s and 1980s, the reflective and the critical approaches in 1990s, and the postmodern and the humanities-oriented approaches in 2000s, are reviewed in detail. These approaches are compared and analyzed. Based on the analysis, future tasks for the Korean PETE discourses and practices are suggested.

    There has been an increasing trend among physical education (1`E) majors to become a PE teacher. The application rate for the hiring exam is ever increasing continuously. However, little discourses on PE teacher education (TE) has been exchanged. The systematic and disciplined discourses on the qualities of best PE teachers have not been active in Korea. For the last three decades, a great deal of discussion has been conducted on the traits of desirable PE teachers in western countries. Based on the discussions, they have developed systematic models for the preparation of PE teachers. It is very urgent for us to begin this kind of discussion in Korea in order to educate better PE teachers. The purpose of this study is to review the trends in PEI E for the last three decades, and identify future tasks for PE 1`E in Korea.
