This paper examined fundamental conceptual and methodological issues with respect to family support for individuals with special needs. For this purpose, the meaning of family support and the change of family concerns or priorities at different life cycles which include early childhood, school age, adolescence, and adulthood were discussed. Various types of social and emotional support for families of children with special needs in practice, such as parent support, father support, and sibling support programs were described in terms of contents, methodologies, and the effects.
