The purpose of this essay is to explore institutional efforts to make the importance and understanding character education widespread in social lives. Since negative cases like violences between students in schools has been reported, more attention has also been paid to character development in ordinary lives. It leads us to do educational changes from passive knowledge delivery to autonomous constitution in activities and experiences. Institutionally, the Korean Government has enforced < Character Education Promotion Act > in 2015, which has made it possible to establish the network of character eduction among schools, home, and local associations or authorities. The main goal of < the Act > is to develop core competences of students to solve and overcome various conflicts and problems that make them difficulty in ordinary lives. At the same time. more important is the educational competences of teachers to teach their students in the schools. In particular, they are required to utilize their developed competences in their teaching class. This is the connection of their competences of character education with the curriculum of each subject in schools. On the background of < the Act >, therefore, this essay would introduce and examine the educational program to develop professionals in character education of Gyeongsang National University, and consider some tasks for the social diffusion of character education.
