This paper starts with diagnosing the philosophical roots of carbon capitalism and clarifying that it is a key cause of the Anthropocene crisis. As a philosophical alternative to overcome this crisis, it presents a Confucian philosophy that emphasizes the ecological worldview of the unity of man and nature, the ethics of humanity that emphasizes human altruism and moderation, and the attitude of life that emphasizes community and the public good. Confucianism presents an ideal human image with self-discipline, temperance, and community responsibility, and by institutionalizing it, it is possible to overcome the crisis caused by human-centered dualistic thinking and infinite desire for consumption. Capitalism ignores morality and only strengthens infinite competition and greed. Confucianism retains the classical wisdom that can complement this distorted pursuit of freedom and profit with community responsibility, ecological harmony, moderation and virtue.
