This paper analyzes the context, mechanisms, and significance of Wang Bing's portrayal of young migrant workers in the 2020s through his film "Youth (Spring)". In this 2023 release, Wang Bing depicts the labor and daily lives of young migrant workers in Zhili Town. Despite working under highly exploitative piece-rate payment systems and intensive labor conditions, these young migrant workers develop dynamic relationships of friendship, love, solidarity, conflict, and negotiation. The camera captures the image of subaltern—young—workers who can act and speak, revealing how individual lives are intertwined with social and economic structures. Through this, the film exposes labor forms, conditions, and structures faced by young migrant workers that have been overlooked by academia and media, and which contradict common perceptions. "Spring" is thus a text that reveals this reality while raising questions about how we should view it.
