망우당 곽재우의 한시를 통해 본 한수초(閒酬酢)의 정취(情趣)와 그 의미 = The Artistic Effect and Meaning of Hansujak in the Chinese Poem of Mangwoodang, Gwak Jae-Woo

국문 초록 (Abstract)

紅衣將軍 망우당 곽재우는 임진왜란 의병장으로 활약하여 큰 공을 세웠지만, 정계에 진출하지 않고 處士로서의 삶을 살았다. 그의 한시는 대개 임진왜란 이후 망우정 은거 시절에 지어진 것이 대부분이다. 기존에 우리는 곽재우를 의병 활동과 관련해서만 살펴보았다. 하지만 본고는 의병장 곽재우의 일상과 풍류, 한수작의 정취를 살펴보았다.
곽재우의 한시에 나타난 정취는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그는 낭만적 서정 및 자연과 합일하는 정서를 지녔다. 곽재우는 歸去來하여 뱃놀이를 즐기거나, 산수를 통해 조화와 합일하는 정취를 한시에 드러내고 있었다. 둘째, 곽재우는 자유로운 일상을 즐겼고, 고요한 삶을 통해 깨달음에 나아가고 있었다. 그는 전쟁을 경험했기에 그 누구보다 자유로운 일상에 대한 희망이 컸다. 이러한 삶속에서 그는 지극한 고요를 선택했던 것이다. 이를 통해 성인의 경지에 나아가는 깨달음으로 승화시켰다. 셋째, 그는 당대의 불우한 정국과 세상을 벗어나, 신선처럼 노니는 즐거움을 한시에 드러냈다. 그는 당대의 의병장들이 모두 불우한 終局을 맞이하는 모습을 지켜봤기에, 더욱 세상의 혼란함을 벗어나고자 하였다.
곽재우의 이러한 정취는 전쟁 경험의 고통에서 벗어나고자 한 것이다.
그가 일상에서는 성리학에 중심을 두었고, 나아가서는 老莊의 수양을 했던 것도 이와 크게 벗어나지 않는다. 그의 한수작은 아름다운 산수, 망우정에서 경험할 수 있는 풍류의 최고의 경지를 소박하게 향유하고 있었다. 곽재우의 한시에 나타난 한수작의 정취는 낭만 · 서정 · 자연 합일 · 자유 · 일상 · 고요 · 超世 · 仙遊가 융합된 정서라고 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The General, Hong Ui, named "Gwak Jae-woo" with the pen name of Mangwoodang made a great contribution to protecting the country from the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592 as a leader of the voluntary civilian army. However, he did not move forward into politics, remaining as a classical scholar without a governmental post. Most of his poems were created during the time of retreating in MangWoojung after the Japanese invasion of Korea. Existing studies have only examined Gwak Jae-woo in connection with his activity of the voluntary civilian army. However, this study examined his poems through his daily life, refined taste, and the artistic effect of Hansujak.
The artistic effect of Gwak Jae-woo's poetry is as follows: First, his Chinese poems have romantic lyrics and emotions that are united with nature. Gwak Jae-woo reveal his refined taste of harmony and unity through observing landscape and enjoying boating with home-returning in his Chinese poems. Second, Gwak Jae-woo enjoyed a liberal daily life, advancing into enlightenment through the serene life. Since he had experienced war, he had a more hope or aspiration for a liberal life than anyone else. In the life of this kind, he chose silence. This was sublimated with the enlightenment of a sage. Third, his Chinese poems reveal that he wanted to escape from the unfortunate political situation of those days and enjoy a life of the legendary hermit with miraculous powers. Since he saw that all leaders of voluntary civilian army met an ill fated ending, he truly desired to escape himself from the chaos of the world.
This kind of Gwak Jae-woo's artistic effect was intended to get away himself from the pain of the war experience. That's the reason that he cultivated himself with the life of Lao Zi, based on Neo-Confucianism in his daily life. His Hansujak was to practice the ultimate state of tastes for the art, which can be experienced in a beautiful scenary of Mangwoojung in a simple way. The artistic effect of Hansujak is the sentiment that combines romance, lyricism, natural unity, freedom, daily life, silence, keeping aloof from the world and sightseeing.
