This study analyzes the 2022 revision of Chinese primary Yuwen textbooks, officially implemented in 2024, focusing on the first semester textbook for grades one through six. It explores changes in curriculum structure, text organization, and vocabulary development using TTR, MTLD, vocd-D, and TF-IDF to assess lexical diversity and complexity. Findings show a gradual increase in word variety and sentence length, reflecting a shift toward competency-based education and cultural literacy. Based on Beck’s(2013[2002]) three-tier vocabulary framework, the study identifies a structured progression from tier one to tier two and tier three vocabulary, especially in higher grades. This reflects an effort to enhance both language proficiency and critical thinking. The results offer insights into how textbook reforms support national education goals while embedding traditional values and modern competencies into language learning.
