The goal of this study is to analyze the menu types of current smart watches and find out the types of menu that will allow effective navigation within the interface. There are four interface designs that are most commonly used: One-line list, Two-line grid menu, Rotating menu, and Clustered menu. In experiment 1, these four types were tested to compare the performance and subject evaluation of each menu type. two-line grid menu and clustered menu were more efficient at performance, whereas one-list menu got bad evaluation at performance and subjective evaluation. The results of experiment 2 revealed that the color cues significantly improved the one-line list’s performance and
the clustered menu’s performance, perceived efficiency and glanceability. On the other hand, it has a negative effect on Rotating menu. The conclusion suggests supplement points and implications for each menu types which are based on experiment 1, 2 and qualitative research.
