This study aims to contemplate the level of perception about mentoring of directors at kindergarten. The subjects of study consist of 112 directors of kindergarten. When data were collected from questionnaires, we analyzed the frequency and percentage. The following results were found.
First, regarding the operation of mentoring, the perception of mentoring as well as its necessity indicated high. Through the mentoring, it is beneficial to both mentor and mentee, and one-to-one interview turned out to be the best fit out of various communication skills in mentoring. For the practice of mentoring, the period of pre-practice was turned out to be the most preferred duration, and they recognized that it is necessary to have close relationship or association between university and kindergarten for field practice.
Second, regarding the future of mentoring education, the qualification of mentoring teacher requires teacher in charge of student practicing with four or five years of experience. It is also expected that mentoring teacher should possess personal trait such as trust, enthusiasm, and thoughtful. Equally important, discerning critic and ability to link between academic and industry is required.
In this study, we could verify that directors also fully recognized and expressed their interest regarding the education of mentoring.
