Polypropylene and its blend with recycled polyethylene were melt blended using rheomixer. The blend was mixed at elevated temperature, while appropriate amount of additives were added to the mixture. The blended mixture was placed in a moving belt and exposed to an electron beam in irradiation dose of the range of 30-45 kGy, Finally the irradiated blends were thermally expanded at the temperature ranged from 140℃ to 190℃ for 21min. The effects of the crosslinking by electron beam irradiation and resin content on the foam structure of the blended mixture were investigated. As results, PP/w-PE foams were successfully prepared using e-beam as a cross-linking tool and its optimum dose range was 30-35 kGy for 10 MeV. Maximum expandability of the blended Non-FR foam was 1760%.
