서울민속학의 연구대상과 연구방법론

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 서울 민속학의 연구 대상과 연구 방법론에 대한 글이다. 서울 민속학은 지역민속학으로서 민속학의 연구 대상과 연구 방법론을 수용하여 연구를 수행한다. 기존의 민속학이 연구대상 별로 자료를 축적하는 데에 큰 관심을 기울였다는 점을 본고에서는 민속학의 약점이라고 파악하지 않는다. 이러한 연구 전통은 서울 민속학에서도 적극 수용해야 한다.
이와 함께 도시 속에서도 민속은 지속된다는 전제를 가지고 서울 사람들과 서울 민속의 관계를 이론적으로 검토해야 한다는 점을 강조한다. 기술의 발달은 사회를 개별화시키며, 다양한 민속을 발생시키고, 민속의 구속력을 약화시키기는 하지만 사람들의 적극적인 민속화 행위에 힘입어 새로운 민속문화를 생성시킨다. 도시화가 민속을 해체시킨다는 관점에 동의하지 않는다.
서울 민속학은 실재론에 기반하여 연구 대상에 접근하여야 하며, 현재에 대한 연구와 함께 역사적 연구를 동시에 수행해야 한다. 민속학은 과거와 현재의 긴장 관계에 대한 연구를 수행하는 학문이기 때문이다. 또한 서울 민속학은 사람의 본질이 호모 에코노미쿠스와 호모루덴스가 합쳐진 호모 폴크로리쿠스라는 점을 중시한다. 이를 통해 도시 속에서 살아가는 서울 사람들과 그들의 문화를 온전하게 이해할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims to explain the research methodology and object of the seoul folkloristics. I think that the seoul folkloristics has to accept the traditional research methods of the folkloristics which regard genres of the folklore and folklife highly.
I argue that the urbanization do not eradicate the folklore. The urban citizens make folklores new and folklorize the new technology. Because this is necessary and obligatory for the normal life in the period of the rapid development of the technology.
I think that seoul folkloristics has to regard human as homo folkloricus who embrace homo economicus and homo ludens. The folklorization process shows this character of mankind well.
I think the seoul folkloristics has to study the history and the present of the seoul folklore. It must overcome the postmodernism and accept the realism and positivism.
