한국 인종편견 형성과정과 요인 = A Socio-Historial Approach to the Formation of Racial Prejudice in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to trace the formation of racial prejudice in Korea and find it's factors and it's relations with each other in socio-historial contexts. The major factors which have formed the Korean racial prejudice are Joseon-centrism based on confucianism, Japanese pseudo-orientalism and Korean pseudo-orientalism. The formation of Korean racial prejudice goes through 4 stages according to these factors.
The first stage is the age of Joseon-centrism based on Confucianism in which Koreans disregarded Chinese and Japanese on the ground that they did not practice Confucianism.
The second stage is the age of the germination of Korean pseudo-orientalism. In this period Korean intellectuals were affected by Japanese pseudo-orientalism which was originated in 'An Essay on Japanese Modernization: From Asia to Europe', and proposed to transform people's ways of thinking and behavior accepting western civilization.
The third stage is the age of the internalization of Korean pseudo-orientalism. In this period Koreans internalized Korean pseudo-orientalism while they were accelerating the economic development and modernization.
The fourth stage is the age of Korean pseudo-orientalism after modernization. In this period Koreans disregard people from under-developed countries on the ground that their income is lower than that of Koreans, while they are favorably disposed toward westerners.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 역사·사회적 맥락을 통해 한국 인종편견 형성과정과 요인을 밝히는데 있다. 한국 인종편견 형성과정에는 여러 가지 요인들이 상호작용하고 있는데, 대표적 요인으로는 조선중심 중화사상·오리엔탈리즘·탈아입구론·민족개조론·근대화 후 의사(疑似) 오리엔탈리즘 5가지이다. 이 요인들은 조선 문화우월주의 단계→한국식 의사 오리엔탈리즘 발생단계→의사 오리엔탈리즘 내면화단계→근대화 후 의사 오리엔탈리즘 표출단계를 거쳐 오늘날 한국 인종편견을 형성하였다. 그런데 이들 요인들은 특정 시기에 생겨나 특정 시기에 한정되어 작용하는 것이 아니라 그 다음 시기에도 잠재되어 중첩적으로 영향을 줌으로써, 한국 인종편견은 복합성·이중성·상호모순성을 띠게 되었다.
