The purpose of this study is to describe the technical details and efficacy of four balloon dilatation therapy performed in two patients with fibrous bronchial stenosis caused by endobronchial tuberculosis by using an inflatable balloon catheter(5F, diameter 10mm, length 4cm).
Balloon bronchoplasty of the diffuse & multifocal fibrous stricture of left main bronchus was performed safely, repeatedly & successfully through nasal cavity under fluoroscopic guidance with the patient under local anesthesia. The patient's exertional dyspnea & productive cough were improved after procedure. There was no complication except mild fever, blood-tinged sputum & tolerable cough.
In conclusion, balloon bronchoplasty could be the first choice for treating relatively complex cicatricial tuberculous bronchial stenosis.
