Boy, the Korean modern general magazine, which was monthly published by Namseon, Choe from November of 1908 to May of 1911, led the new culture among young generation by introducing modern scientific knowledge and international, cultural information in forms of aphorisms and biographies of modern heroes. In magazine Boy, the subscribers were caIled 'New Daehan Boys', also regarded as international modern boys who had and enjoyed modern knowledge and culture, and expected as a young generation who studied in modern schools, and by doing so, it discriminated the subscribers from other generations who had never had any modern knowledge nor international culture. The readers of Boy were appealed as 'the New Daehan people' who should found New Daehan-nation just around the corner. They were endowed important missions that they should make communicate the pre-modern society and modern one, and the Western culture and Korean one. They were considered as modern peoples who should create brand-new, young culture which made it possible to lead new wave in the field of Korean culture and education. In such a process, inner qualities, inteIlectual capabilities, and literary attainments were recognized as essential quality, not age, which were a exclusive point of 'New Daehan Boys', different from the other generation's one.
AideulBoy was published as a monthly magazine from August of 1913 to September of 1914 for Korean children by Namseon, Choe. In this magazine, various western folk tales and fables were translated into Korean and printed reworked Korean traditional novels as short stories with rhythm. Also, it recorded many simple interesting foreign games with practical manuals. Most of their rules were related with modern science, such as chemistry, mathematics, etc.
A new word of 'Eorini', a term of modern children, could get semantic confirmity in accordance with development of modern children's culture. With modern magazines such as Boy, AideulBoy, Chungchoon, modern young generation began to grow as a modern subjects who were endowed to innovate Korea as a modern nation.
