In this paper, we propose a lossless encoding method of VQ address using a address transform function based on exploiting the high interblock correlation. In the proposed method, when an original address can be transformed into a lower new address, we efficiently reduced bit-rate by encoding the transformed address by the address transform function. Address transform function that maps an original address into a new address in reordered codebook using side match error is defined. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces the average bit-rate by 40∼50% in ordinary VQ for image compression, with the same quality of the reconstructed image as that of conventional VQ system.
