우리 나라 교육과정 편제의 문제와 발전 과제 = Problems and Directions for Improvement in relation to the Framework of School Curriculum in Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

After the Rehabilitation, we have reformed many times the framework of the curriculum to improve our schooling in Korea. However, up to now, we can find many kinds of weaknesses in relation to it. They are as follows: ①The framework of the curriculum has a rigid subject system, composed mainly by the required subjects. ②It forces students learn too many kinds of subjets in each semester. ③Educational contents have been too rapidly westernized. Accordingly our value systems were confused seriously. ④Schools have not been well supported not only administratively but also financially. So the actual school curriculum has been isolated from the formal written curriculm. The 7th curriculum, which was noticed on Dec. 30. 1997., involves various characteristics as follows: ① the national common curriculum from Grade 1 to Grade 10 ② wide introduction of elective subject system during the two years, from garde 11 to Grade 12 ③ comparatively few numbers of subjects which students have to learn in each semester ④ the curriculum implementation system suitable to students` avility levels, etc. But it also has some difficulties or limitations: Why can we not introduce the elective system to national common curriculum? Are we able to sufficiently provide with appropriate support system for the implementation of the 7th curriculum within next two or three years? and others. Therefore, we should check them more considerately and select more trustworthy alternatives. At the same time, we have to carefully examine the meaning of the harmonization of freedom and equality in relation to the curriculum and the actual state of students` lives in schools and outsides, and develop a new model of school curriculum most suitable to the students` lives and their full growth. In connection with this curriculum, we should also improve the entrance examination system of our university.
