진로체험활동과 교사와의 진로대화가 중학생의 진로결정에 미치는 영향 = Effects of Career Experience Activities and Career Conversation with Teachers on Career Decisions of Middle School Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of career experience activities and career conversation with teachers on the career decisions of middle school students. To this end, this study drew on data from Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey which were collected from 7th graders in 2018. The subjects of this study were 2,253 students, 46.4% of female students and 53.6% of male students. By controlling for gender, perception of subject grades, career-related conversation with fathers and mothers, household income, and fathers and mothers' educational attainment levels, this study investigated the influence of career experience activities and career conversations with teachers in a more precise way. The results of this study were as follows. First, career experience activities generally had a positive relationship with middle school students' career decisions. The more students who participated in career experience activities, the more likely they were to decide their career, whether general or specific. Second, career conversation with teachers was related to the level of career decisions of middle school students. Students who frequently talked about careers with teachers were more likely to make specific career decisions rather than general career decisions. Third, although not the main variable of this study, the perception of subject grade was positively related to the career decision, and the career conversation with the father was also related to the level of career decision of middle school students. Based on the findings, implications and recommendations were suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 진로체험활동과 교사와의 진로대화가 중학생의 진로결정에 미치는 영향을 구명하는 데 있었다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원이 실시한 한국아동･청소년패널조사 2018의 1차시에 참여한 중학교 1학년 데이터를 활용하였다. 분석대상은 2,253명이었으며, 여학생이 46.4%, 남학생이 53.6%였다. 진로체험활동과 교사와의 진로대화가 중학생의 진로결정에 미치는 영향을 보다 정확하게 분석하기 위해, 성별, 자신의 성적에 대한 평가, 아버지 및 어머니와의 진로대화, 가구소득, 아버지 및 어머니의 최종 학력을 통제하였다.
분석 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 진로체험활동은 중학생의 진로결정에 대체로 긍정적인 관계가 있었다. 진로체험활동에 많이 참여한 학생일수록 추상적이든 구체적이든 진로를 결정할 가능성이 높았다. 둘째, 교사와의 진로대화는 중학생의 진로결정 수준과 관계가 있었다. 교사와 진로에 관한 대화를 자주하는 학생일수록 추상적으로 진로를 결정하기보다는 구체적으로 진로를 결정할 가능성이 높았다. 셋째, 이 연구의 주요변수는 아니지만, 자신의 성적에 대한 평가는 중학생의 진로결정에 긍정적인 관계가 있었으며, 아버지 진로대화도 중학생의 진로결정 수준과 관계가 있었다. 이러한 결과를 중심으로 시사점 및 제언을 제시하였다.
