헤겔 철학체계 내에서 ‘욕망’의 의미와 역할에 대하여 -『정신현상학』「자기의식」장을 중심으로-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper intends to make plain the notion of 'desire' in Hegel's works. Throughout all of his works, Hegel explains general meaning of 'desire' to 'impulse', 'desire' and 'need'. The meaning of 'impulse', 'desire' and 'need' changes in Hegel's philosophy systems.
Nevertheless kritik of the Hegel's desire theory don't classify clearly the function and meaning of 'impulse', 'desire' and 'need'. For example, The kritik of the Hegel's desire theory, which emphasises merely fulfillment of subject's desire, and in which fulfillment of desire is not filled up without some of personal and social restriction, isn't appropriate to 'desire' as principles of subject's self-stand. Rather it is, in another meaning, sound to the kritik of 'need'. Like this, finally positive character of Hegel's 'desire' theory is disappeared througout another negative analysises, which works wihtout clear divisions of meanings.
Thus this article's purpose is understanding of clear and correct meaning of 'desire' in Hegel's philosophy system. By this, the meaning of 'impulse', 'desire' and 'need' in Hegel's philosophy system will be defined clearly in here. Also reasonability of Kritik of Hegel's 'desire' theory will be appeared in this divisions.
This paper, therefore, will search positive meaning and role as a principle of subject's self-stand and universal self-consciousness. It is possible through Hegel's ground thought, of which 'desire' is ' my desire' as a principle of subject's self-stand and are fullfilled by other's desire. And in this way, this article will search that Hegel denies dichotomic way of rationality and desire, and by this establishes positive meaning and rol, and points limit of 'desire'. The most important purpose of this article is undertanding of 'desire's meaning and role in Hegel's philosophy systems.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 헤겔의 욕망에 대한 이와 같은 해석과 비판이 과연 타당한가라는 물음에서 시작한다. 헤겔은 우리가 말하고 있는 일반적인 욕망의 의미를 ‘충동(Trieb)’, ‘욕망(Begierde)’, ‘욕구(Bedürfnis)’라는 보다 세밀한 구분 속에서 설명한다. 즉 헤겔 철학체계의 시대적인 구분 속에서 충동, 욕망, 욕구의 의미변화가 나타난다. 또한 헤겔은 의식이전의 자연적 본능, 의식, 현실세계와 같이 욕망이 발생하고 드러나는 모습에 따라 충동, 욕망, 욕구를 나누고 그것들의 의미와 역할 역시 명료하게 구분한다. 그럼에도 불구하고 일반적인 헤겔 욕망론에 대한 비판은 이러한 충동, 욕망, 욕구의 의미와 역할을 명확히 구분하지 않는다. 예를 들어, 헤겔의 욕망론이 단순히 주체의 욕망충족만을 강조하며, 나아가 욕망의 충족은 어떠한 개인적ㆍ사회적 규제 없이는 도달할 수 없다는 비판은, 사실상 주체의 자기정립의 원리로서 ‘욕망(Begierde)’에는 타당하지 않고 오히려 그것과는 다른 의미에서 발생하는 ‘욕구(Bedürfnis)’에 대한 비판으로서만 타당하다. 이렇게 되면 결국엔 헤겔의 욕망론이 갖는 긍정적인 성격은 의미상의 명확한 구분 없이 행해진 여타의 다른 부정적인 해석들을 통해서 그 의미가 사라지게 된다.
따라서 본 논문은 우선 헤겔 철학체계 내에서 사용되는 욕망의 세밀한 의미구분을 먼저 파악하고자 한다. 그것을 통해 본 논문은 헤겔 철학체계 내에서 충동, 욕망, 욕구가 갖는 나름의 의미와 역할을 명확히 구분할 것이다. 이러한 구분 속에서 헤겔 욕망론에 대한 비판의 타당성이 드러나게 될 것이다. 나아가 본 논문은 헤겔 욕망론의 핵심이라고 할 수 있는『정신현상학』'자기의식’장을 중심으로, 자기정립의 원리와 보편적인 자기의식으로의 이행이라는 욕망이 갖는 긍정적인 의미와 역할을 알아볼 것이다. 이것은, 욕망이란‘나의 욕망’이라고 하는 자기자신의 정립의 근거로서만 파악될 수 있으며, 또한‘무엇을 통한’욕망의 충족이라는 의미에서 타자와의 매개를 통해서만 충족이 가능하다는 헤겔의 근본적인 생각을 파악함으로써 가능하다. 그리고 그러한 점에서 헤겔이 이성과 욕망이라고 하는 이분법적 접근 방식을 거부했고, 욕망과 이성을 서로 매개로 하는 방식을 통해 욕망의 적극적인 의미와 역할을 정립하고 동시에 욕망의 한계를 지적하는 방식으로 나아가고 있음을 파악하고자 한다. 바로 이와 같은 문제의식에서 논자는 본 논문의 가장 큰 목적을 ‘헤겔 철학체계에서 욕망이 갖는 의미와 역할’을 파악함에 두고자 한다.
