According to the data (table 1) Survey of underground temperature of Seoul vicinity for three years from 1964 to 1966 by The Central Meteorological Observatory, temperature of underground, 5m below ground, keeps almost the same temperature around 15℃ throughout the year, without any effect of weather.
With the intention of heating and cooling the house by making use of underground temperature, I made an air control tank 5m below the ground and then built a house of 9㎡ above the air control tank which is 5m long, 1m wide, and 1m high.
It was found that room temperature is about 22.3℃ while the mean temperature of open-air throughout August is 26.7℃ (table 11).
The result from this research shows that controlling room temperature by making use of underground temperature will be possible.
