The grace of the Holy spirit is the spring of life which gives life to all the creatures. Man exists by the grace of life, and the grace of the Holy Spirit is the spring of action which gives the acting ability to him. The human spirit acts and works by this grace. As the grace of the Holy spirit comes from the creator, God and exists by Him and for Him, the working grace is also the spring of meritorious services that makes a human being sanctified. By the grace of virtue he does good deeds through which he receives the reward, becomes sanctified according to his meritorious services, and gets to the final beatitude whose state means that he lives eternal life like God, that is, life itself. Therefore the grace of the Holy spirit, which enables the human spirit to exist as life and makes him perfect, is both the origin of the human being and his final purpose.
It should be noticed that as far as the perfection of the human spirit is concerned, the human will is involved. The human spirit is created and born as life, without any relation to the human will, by the grace of the Holy Spirit, but the human spirit must want the sanctifying grace with his own free will in order to get the beatitude in which he can have everlasting life. In other words, he should want the highest good with his free will, ask the highest good, and do good deeds that will become the meritorious service which is necessary for his doing good deeds to the will of the right to receive the reward of beatitude.
The concrete way to do a good deed is both to keep away from the seven basic sins, and to live a life of the seven sacraments through which the seven virtues, seven gifts and seven beatitudes are given. These virtues, gifts and beatitudes are graceful habits.
Only a human being who accepts the highest truth as faith through his sacramental life, puts love into practice to the will of the highest good and fulfills the Commandments can get to the state of perfection in grace. St. Bonaventura's “De Gratia Sancti Spiritu”suggested us the way to the true happiness in which the human spirit can exist as life, grow and become perfect in the full grace of the Holy spirit.
