『 심리록(審理錄)』 판결 서사의 콘텐츠 가치 연구 정조의 사법 사례에 대한 그레마스 행위소 분석을 중심으로 = Trial Narratives as Cultural Content A Greimassian Actantial Analysis of King Jeongjo’s Simnirok (審理錄)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 정조 재위기(1776∼1800)에 편찬된 사법 판결 기록물인 『심리록(審理錄)』을 문화콘텐츠 서사론의 시각에서 고찰하고, 그 안에 내재한 카타르시스 메커니즘과 원천 콘텐츠로서의 가치를 규명한다. 이를 위해 먼저 2장에서는 아리스토텔레스적 카타르시스, 현대 사이다 서사, 한국 전통 미학의 해원(解冤)이라는 세 가지 이론적 준거를 검토해 분석 틀을 구성했다. 아울러 『조선왕조실록』의 사법 기록 방식과의 비교를 통해, 『심리록』이 단순한 행정 기록을 넘어 사건 개요·수사 과정·판결 논리가 유기적으로 결합된 독자적 서사텍스트임을 확인했다. 3장에서는 그레마스의 행위소 모델을 적용해 이경휘 사건, 평산 박 여인 사건, 강진 김은애 사건 등 세 가지 대표 판결 사례의 서사 구조를 분석하고, 인물 간 역할 관계와 정조 판부의 서사적 기능을 고찰했다. 분석 결과, 정조는 흠휼(欽恤) 이념을 발신자로, 억울한 피해자를 수신자로, 무능한 관료와 위증을 반대자로 하는 행위소 구조가 세 사례에 공통적으로 도출되었었다. 또한 세 사례 모두 ‘결핍 → 지연 → 반전 → 충족’ 의 4단계 서사 공식을 공유함을 확인했다. 나아가 『심리록』의 서사적 쾌감은 아리스토텔레스적 지적 정화, 현대사이다 서사의 즉각적 응징 구조, 그리고 한국 전통 미학의 해원이라는 세 겹의 중층적 층위에서 복합적으로 작동함을 밝혔다. 또한 역사적 사실성, 구조적 완결성, 장르 변용의 다층성을 두루 갖춘 『심리록』은 드라마·웹툰·웹소설·게임 등 다양한 대중문화 콘텐츠의 원천 소스로서 높은 기획적 잠재력을 지님을 논증했다. 특히 기존 사극이 거시적 권력 서사에 집중해 온 것과 달리, 『심리록』이 제공하는 ‘민생 밀착형 미스터리’ 서사는 불공정한 현실에 민감한 현대 수용자의 정서와 깊이 공명하는 차별화된 원천 콘텐츠로서의 가능성을 지닌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines Simnirok (審理錄), a collection of judicial records compiled during the reign of King Jeongjo of Joseon (r. 1776–1800), through the lens of cultural content narrative theory. The primary objective is to identify the catharsis mechanisms embedded in its trial narratives and to assess their value as source material for contemporary cultural content production. To this end, the study applies Greimas’s actantial model to three representative judicial cases—the Yi Gyeonghwi case, the Pyeongsan Park woman case, and the Gimeuae case—analyzing the role relationships among characters and the narrative functions performed by King Jeongjo’s judicial rulings. The analysis reveals that all three cases share a common four-stage narrative formula of deficiency → delay → reversal → fulfillment, which corresponds structurally to both Aristotle’s tragic catharsis and the contemporary Korean “cathartic narrative” (saida) storytelling pattern. The findings demonstrate that Simnirok operates on three overlapping layers of narrative pleasure: Aristotelian intellectual catharsis, the immediate retribution structure of modern cathartic narratives, and the Korean aesthetic tradition of haewon (解冤), or the resolution of unjust grievance. Furthermore, Simnirok possesses strong potential as source content for diverse media genres including historical drama, webtoon, web fiction, and interactive games, owing to its factual authenticity, structural completeness, and adaptability as a content development matrix.
