The present paper analyzes a novel titled <Gamyenjiwoogi>(meaning the erasure of mask) in terms of G. Deleuze and F. Guattari´s theory of signs. This novel poses a major question on the modern regime which presupposes rational subjects. To preserve itself, the regime of sign as modern times controls and captures the streams of all the desires of flying from this system The hero in this novel takes the line of flight to fly from this regime of sign, but fails to achieve any deterritorialization. Rather, his desire of flight is supercoded by the regime of sign. In the process, the fascist nature of modern systems leading the stream of desires can be read. On the other hand, the code of deception has two functions at the level of text. One serves as a means of critical reaction of the hero´s against fathers´ world made of fictions, The hero reveals the nature of world as a fiction by turning himself a fiction through the code of deception. The other poses involves questioning the reality by keeping readers from restructuring the story based on ´facts.´ In this case, when this reality is presupposed to define the mode of life and reasoning, the code of deception can be said to have a metatextual function. in which reality seem to attract us so strongly but may in fact come into nonexistence.
