The purpose of this study is to provide basis research data that will be helpful to the local tourism industry policies of 16 metropolitan municipalities using Locational Quotient Analysis and Shift and Share Analysis. The range of tourism industry was classified by the tourism industry specified in Tourism Promotion Act, and the number of employee and revenues were used as variables. As for the time range, the data from 2009 till 2012 was analyzed. The findings from an analysis of industrial structure effects in Locational Quotient Analysis showed that tourism business, tourist accommodation business, and international conference business in all metropolitan municipalities showed (+) values in terms of the number of employees; tourism business, international conference business and tourism facility business in all metropolitan municipalities showed (+) values in terms of revenues. The findings from an analysis of industrial structure effects in Shift and Share Analysis showed that tourist facility business, international conference business, casino business and amusement facility business in Seoul showed (+) values in terms of the number of employee. This study has significance in that the data was quantitatively analyzed using Locational Quotient Analysis and Shift and Share Analysis whose studies have seldom been conducted. Thus there is a need of future studies to supplement this study by using an additional analytical methods that supplements Shift and Share Analysis and extending the time range to 10 years.
