In Explaining daily Buddhist rituals, it is appropriate for Beopsa(法師) to do duties and responsibilities. However, special rituals which were set involving Beompae(梵唄) and Jakbeopmu(作法舞) on alters of temple hall outdoor have events feature as not only Buddhist participants but also members of the general public who are interested in Buddhist culture, thereby creating a demand for ritual interpretation and cultural commentary.
Both daily and special Buddhist rituals serve as a place of religious practice to realize the Buddha’s teachings.
Even if Beopsa has certain rituals including possess performative or artistic aspects and their rightly meanings, they nevertheless remain authentic Buddhist rituals and cannot be regarded as separate from the religious framework.
Moreover, by offering proper and meaningful interpretations of large-scale outdoor Buddhist ceremonies, it can contributed to a correct understanding and appreciation of the values embodied in Buddhist rituals and Buddhist culture by Ritual Cultural Interpreters.
