사회적 지출과 지역경제성장의 관계 분석 = The Relationship Between Social Expenditure and Regional Economic Growth in Korean Local Government

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines the effects of social expenditure on regional economic growth from 1995 to 2011 data in Korean local government using the panel regression analysis. Specifically, we classify social expenditure into reproductive spending and social security spending. We analyze the relationship between social expenditure and regional economic growth based on endogeneity of social expenditure. This paper shows that when social expenditure is exogeneous variable, regional economic growth has positive effects of total social expenditure or reproductive social expenditure such as the health spending or protection of the environment. However, this paper also reveals that with endogeneity, negative effects of social expenditure such as supporting the disadvantaged group or national basic livelihood system cancel out positive effects of reproductive social expenditure.
