항구도시의 지역학 발전과 `군산학(群山學)`의 활성화 방향 = The Area Studies of the Leading Seaports in Korea and the Direction for Improvement of `Gunsan Hak`

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the past, area studies including Korea, America, and Japan were quite popular in international topography, and recently, domestic area studies including Seoul, Busan, Incheon and Gunsan have been described and actively prevalent. The purpose of this study is to search the natural ecology in the neighborhood & history and culture, society and industry and discover its own charm & possibility. This study accumulated considerable results in terms of its unique purpose and method, and also suggests the development of activities focused on the area`s identity. From this study, one may pave the way to pride & affection for one`s local area and play a role in `local area-making. Going back to the recent past, such movements greatly attributed to the comprehensive localization trend progressed in the latter 1980s. Also, the Local Autonomy System from 1995 is known to have played an important role. It is time that we make an effort to secure the actual autonomy in the course of re-investigating its trace of the last 20 years. The concern for local development process and the future exploration means covering the concrete alteration and decision-making in its local society, as well as changing the local residents`recognition & life style. In the context of it, it is thought that we need more autonomous reviews and analysis in the reality of local areas, and thus, the promotion of local studies is essential. This essay searches the trend of local studies such as Busan, Incheon, the leading seaports that opened in the latter nineteenth century, and aims to promote the study of domestic areas and its future improvement.
