This study was intended to examine the present status and difficulties of the inclusive child care and education centers and supports demanded by the directors, teachers, and parents in P city, Gyeonggi-do. Two directors of inclusive child care and education centers, five teachers in charge of children with disabilities and five parents raising children with disabilities participated in qualitative interviews. Transcripts from the results of the interviews were analyzed using the constant comparative method. The results of the study were as followed. First, the directors, teachers and parents all said the distance to related service institutions and a lack of voucher support. They needed the provision of related services within child care and education centers and the expansion of voucher support. Second, all said of a shortage of inclusive child care and education centers. Their demands for support with increase of inclusive child care and education centers , the placement of workers specialized in child care and education by the local government. Third, the directors and teachers said the children’s various characteristics and problematic behaviors, the difficulty in delivering an appropriate education to children with disabilities due to employment of special education teachers. They suggested the reducing the ratio of teacher to children, class organization in accordance with the characteristics of children with disabilities. Fourth, to improve understanding of children with disabilities and resolve difficulties resulting from prejudice towards and ignorance of them, the directors and teachers demanded education for all directors and teachers and parents. Fifth, the teachers perceived children’s development delay resulting from difficult family background and broken home, they wanted parent education by public agency. Finally, parents expressed the various effects of the inclusive child care and education centers, they needed more qualitative system to expand these effects. This study is significant in suggesting the directions of local inclusive child care and education centers as P city, weak in economic base.
