노화불안이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 : 청년, 중년, 노년 집단 비교 = Effects of Anxiety about Aging on Life Satisfaction : A Comparison of the Young, the Middle Aged, and the Elderly

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study compared the level of anxiety about aging and life satisfaction among the young, the middle aged, and the elderly. Also this study examined the effect of anxiety about aging on life satisfaction in three different age groups. Data were collected from 1,296 adults(750 young adults, 285 middle aged adults, and 261 older adults), and analyzed by PASW 21.0 and Amos 21.0. The results of analysis were as follows. First, life satisfaction had no significant differences in all age groups. Second, ‘fear of old people’ and ‘physical appearance’ were the highest in the young, followed by the middle aged and the elderly. In addition, ‘fear of losses’ was the highest in the elderly, followed by the young and the middle aged, and ‘psychological concerns’ was the highest in the elderly, followed by the middle aged and the young. Third, for the young group, ‘fear of losses’ and ‘psychological concerns’ had a negative influence on life satisfaction and ‘physical appearance’ had a positive influence on life satisfaction. For the middle aged group, ‘psychological concerns’ had a negative influence on life satisfaction. For the elderly group, ‘fear of losses’ had a negative influence on life satisfaction. Implications and future research suggestions were provided.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청년, 중년, 노년 집단의 노화불안과 삶의 만족도 수준을 비교하고, 노화불안이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 각 연령집단별로 비교하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 청년 750명, 중년 285명, 노년 261명, 총 1,296명의 설문조사 결과를 PASW 21.0과 Amos 21.0을 이용하여 잠재평균분석 및 다중집단분석을 실시하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연령집단별 삶의 만족도 수준은 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연령집단별 노화불안의 차이는 각 하위요인에 따라 다른 양상을 보였다. ‘노인에 대한 두려움’과 ‘외모에 대한 걱정’은 ‘청년’, ‘중년’, ‘노년’ 순으로, ‘상실에 대한 두려움’은 ‘노년’, ‘청년’, ‘중년’ 순으로, ‘심리적 불안정’은 ‘노년’, ‘중년’, ‘청년’ 순으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 노화불안의 하위요인은 청년집단의 경우 ‘심리적 불안정’, ‘상실에 대한 두려움’, ‘외모에 대한 걱정’으로 나타났고, 중년집단의 경우 ‘심리적 불안정’, 그리고 노년집단의 경우 ‘상실에 대한 두려움’으로 나타났다. 위의 결과를 바탕으로 연령집단별 노화불안을 낮추고 삶의 만족도를 높이기 위한 방안과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
