잠재계층분석(LCA)을 활용한 중학생의 차별 가해 경험 유형 및 영향요인 분석 = Analysis of types of discriminatory acts by middle school students and their influencing factors using latent class analysis

Korean society has attempted to solve various discrimination issues and realize genuine equality. However, serious discriminatory and hate practices remain widespread. In particular, as discrimination and bullying by adolescents are directly related to school violence, group bullying, and cyber violence, serious efforts are needed to address these issues. This study analyzed types of discriminatory acts performed by middle school students and examined the related factors to find ways to curb their occurrence. This study conducted latent class analysis and multinomial logistic regression analysis using data from the 2019 children and adolescents human rights survey conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute. The analysis of 2,865 middle school students showed that middle school students’ discriminatory acts were classified by their characteristics into four types: lower level, middle level, partially high level, and high level. The types of discrimination experience were classified by comprehensively considering the content or area of discrimination, and the level of discrimination behavior. Next, the degree to which individual, family, and school-related factors predict each type of youth discrimination experience through classification of discrimination experience was analyzed, and according to the analysis results, human rights consciousness, self-esteem, and student participation variables in school affected youth discrimination behavior. Lastly, this study presented ways of reducing discrimination and bullying by middle school students in terms of education and policy dimensions.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리 사회는 여러 가지 차별 문제를 해결하고 진정한 의미의 평등을 실현하기 위하여 끊임없이 노력하고 있다. 하지만 여전히 사회 곳곳에는 차별이나 혐오 등의 문제가 심각한 상황이다. 특히 청소년들의 차별 가해 행동은 학교폭력이나 사이버 폭력, 집단따돌림 등의 문제와도 직결되기 때문에, 이를 해결하기 위한 노력을 지속할 필요가 있다. 이 연구는 이러한 사회적 맥락을 고려하여 수행되었으며, 특히 청소년 차별 가해 행동 경험의 유형을 분석하고, 각 유형에 대한 예측 요인을 살펴봄으로써 차별 가해 행동을 감소시키기 위한 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 자료로는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수행한 2019년 아동·청소년 인권실태조사 데이터를 활용하였고, 이를 활용하여 잠재계층분석, 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 중학생 총 2,865명을 대상으로 분석한 결과, 중학생의 차별 가해 경험 유형은 총 4개 유형으로 분류되었다. 차별 가해 경험의 유형은 차별의 내용이나 영역, 차별 가해 행동의 수준 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 분류된 것으로, 이 연구에서는 각 유형의 특성을 고려하여 하수준, 중수준, 부분적 고수준, 고수준 유형으로 명명하였다. 다음으로 차별 가해 경험의 유형 분류를 통해 개인, 가정 및 학교 관련 요인이 청소년 차별 가해 경험의 각 유형을 예측하는 정도를 분석하였는데, 분석 결과에 따르면 인권의식, 자아존중감, 학생의 학교 참여 변인이 청소년 차별 가해 행동에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 교육적, 정책적 차원에서의 중학생의 차별 가해 행동 감소를 위한 방안을 도출할 수 있었다.
