Two experiments were performed to investigate the changes in blood pictures, blood chemical values and serum cortisol concentration according to Combelen administration(Exp. 1, 2). Sixteen Holstein male calves of 5∼10 month-old(weighing 150 to 380 kg) were used. Each experiment was composed of four calves for experimental groups and control groups. In Exp. 1 and Exp. 2, each animal of experimental group was injected Combelen(N-(3`-dimethyl-aminop-ropyl) 3-propionyl phenothiazine l% solution) with intramusculary as level of 3ml/100kg or 2ml/100kg live body weight, respectively. The animals in control group of Exp. 1 and Exp. 2 were given saline administration instead of Combelen. The blood samples were collected just before and 2, 6 and 24 hours after treatment. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. There were no changes in erythrocytic blood values except the PCV according to quantity of Combelen and age of calves in Combelen administration. The PCV decreased(p $lt;.05) at 2∼6 hours after administration of Combelen. 2. The total leukocytes and differential leukocyte showed no noticeable change compared with control group. 3. The serum total protein showed a tendency to decrease at 2 hours after administration of Combelen, but A/G ratio was not changed. The blood glucose level had a tendency to increase at 2-6 hours after administration of Combelen, but BUN value showed a tendency to decrease at the same hours. 4. The serum cortisol concentration was not significantly changed after administration of Combelen, but there was slightly increased at 6 hours after injection compared with control group.
