국내 미술관 기반 예술치유 프로그램 사례 연구 = Expanding the Social Value and Role of Art Museums: Based on the Cases of Museum-Based Art Healing Programs

This study investigates and analyzes cases of healing-based museum education programs in Korea and discusses the expanded roles and functions of museums and their social value. To do so, we examine the background of the emergence of museum healing, define its concepts and categories, understand its characteristics through case studies, and draw implications for the social meaning and value of museum education. Looking at the museum-based healing programs that have been implemented in Korea, we found that they are aimed at prevention and recovery rather than cure, that the targets range from children to the elderly, and that the methods are diverse, including artwork creation, performance, and dialogue in addition to exhibition experience. In addition, as shown in the previous study, the programs provide training for staff to run the programs, and various events are held in cooperation with other organizations to engage local residents. However, there are not many programs that operate continuously, and it is often difficult to find information about the programs. For museums to fulfill their therapeutic function, they must continue to seek out underserved audiences and engage with local communities to contribute to healthy community building.
