국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 육아휴직 후 복직한 초등학교 여교사들의 경험을 심층적으로 탐구하여, 육아휴직 이 이들의 개인적 삶과 직업적 삶에 미치는 의미를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구자는 육아휴직 후 복직한 초등학교 여교사 2명을 연구 참여자로 선정하고, 내러티브 탐구 방법을 활용하여 그들의 경험을 분석하였다. 연구의 퍼즐은 (1) 육아휴직 후 복직한 초등학교 여교사 는 무엇을 경험하는가, (2) 그 경험의 의미는 무엇인가로 설정되었다. 연구 결과, 육아휴직 후 복직한 초등학교 여교사들의 경험에서 다섯 가지 주요 의미가 도출되었다: ‘육아휴직의 현실 과 여성의 선택’, ‘육아와 교사의 이중 역할’, ‘개인적 성찰과 재발견의 과정’, ‘육아휴직이 가 져온 교사로서의 성장’, ‘경력 성장에 미치는 사회적 구조의 영향’. 이러한 결과를 통해 육아 휴직이 초등학교 여교사들의 개인적 성장과 직업적 정체성 재구성 과정에서 중요한 역할을 함을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 초등학교 여교사들의 경험을 기반으로 교직이라는 전문 직업군 내에서 육아휴직의 영향과 복직 후 적응 과정을 심층적으로 이해하고, 이를 통해 직업적 성 장과 정체성 형성의 의미를 밝히는 데 기여하였다. 나아가, 초등학교 여교사들이 육아휴직 후 복직 과정에서 겪는 어려움을 효과적으로 지원하기 위한 정책적 방안을 마련하는 데 중 요한 기초 자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

This study aims to deeply explore the experiences of elementary school female teachers returning to work after parental leave and analyze the significance of parental leave on their personal and professional lives. To achieve this, the researcher selected two elementary school female teachers who had returned to work after parental leave as participants and analyzed their experiences using a narrative inquiry method. The research puzzles were framed as follows: (1) What do elementary school female teachers experience after returning to work following parental leave? (2) What is the meaning of these experiences? The findings identified five key themes in the experiences of elementary school female teachers returning to work after parental leave: “The reality of parental leave and women’s choices,” “The dual roles of parenting and teaching,” “A process of personal reflection and rediscovery,” “Professional growth brought about by parental leave,” and “The impact of social structures on career development.” These results confirm that parental leave plays a significant role in the personal growth and reconstitution of professional identity among elementary school female teachers. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the impact of parental leave and the adaptation process after returning to work within the teaching profession, highlighting its implications for professional growth and identity formation. Furthermore, it is expected to provide valuable foundational data for developing policy measures to effectively support elementary school female teachers in overcoming challenges during their return-to-work process after parental leave.
