경제적 자활 척도(ESS)와 근로희망 척도(WHS)의 국내 적용 = 자활의 포괄적 이해를 위한 척도 구성에 관한 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Despite the need for comprehensive understanding of self-sufficiency expanding from the previous perspective of emphasizing economic self-sufficiency to the psychological self-sufficiency, there has not existed a systematic measurement for comprehensively assessing self-sufficiency in Korea. In order to domestically apply the Economic Self Sufficiency(ESS) and the Work Hope Scale(WHS) for measuring participants subjective thinking about their economic and psychological self sufficiencies, those measurements were examined through professional translation, experts’ reviews, and focus group interview of those two scales. For the preliminary study 260 participants were surveyed from 20 job training centers of Seoul and Inchon metropolitan and Kyunggi province areas, and for the main study 262 participants were selected from 20 job training centers nationwide. The results demonstrates that, as a measurement for economic self-sufficiency, ESS was found to be composed of 2 main factors of fundamental economic and autonomous economic domains, and as a psychological self-sufficiency measurement, WHS was found to be composed of 3 main factors of process-oriented, goal-oriented, and initiative domains. By proposing the concept of Comprehensive Self-Sufficiency covering psychological self-sufficiency as well as economic self-sufficiency, this study emphasized the importance of work hope for increasing self-sufficiency. It is suggested that the ESS and WHS scales constructed for comprehensive assessment of self-sufficiency, be used to properly measure the level of individuals’ self-sufficiency and the effectiveness of self-sufficiency programs.
