「そうですね」에 관한 계량적 실태연구 = A Quantitative Study on the Response Token Soudesune

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Communicating information verbally or non-verbally, such as through gaze, facial expressions, and gestures, is called language behavior. The correlation between verbal and non-verbal expressions was examined by focusing on the head-nodding of speakers when they say “soudesune” (そうですね) using a multimedia corpus, which can be applied in language behavior studies. “Soudesune” can be divided into cases of meaning and functional agreement and cases of disagreement. Research shows that the first case of “soudesune” is accompanied by a high probability of nodding at the time of agreement, while the second case of “soudesune” is accompanied by a very low probability of nodding at the time of disagreement. This study demonstrates that the speaker is adjusting his/her non-verbal expression (nodding) according to the phrase’s meaning/function, even if the verbal expression is the same. Verbal and non- verbal expressions are shown in relation to each other.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

언어와 시선⋅표정⋅제스처 등 비언어표현을 이용하여 정보를 전달하는 행위를 언어행동이라고 칭하고, 언어행동연구에 활용 가능한 코퍼스인 멀티미디어 코퍼스를 조사자료로 삼아 「そうですね」 발화시 화자의 고개끄덕임에 주목하여 언어와 비언어표현의 관계에 대해 고찰하였다. 「そうですね」는 그 의미⋅ 기능상 동의를 나타내는 경우와 그렇지 않은 경우로 구분할 수 있는데, 조사⋅ 분석결과 동의를 나타내는 「そうですね」는 발화시 높은 확률로 고개끄덕임이동반되는 반면, 동의를 나타내지 않는 「そうですね」의 경우는 고개끄덕임이 지극히 낮은 확률로 동반된다는 경향을 발견하였다. 이는 동일한 언어표현이라도그 의미⋅기능에 따라 화자는 본인의 비언어표현(고개끄덕임)을 조절하고 있음과, 언어표현과 비언어표현이 상호 무관하지 않게 표출되고 있음을 실증하는 결과라고 할 수 있다.
