현대 한국사회의 권위주의에 대한 사회구성주의 치료적 접근: 공공신학으로서의 목회상담의 관점에서 = A Social Constructionist Therapeutic Approach to the Authoritarianism in the Contemporary Korean Society: From a Perspective of Pastoral theology as Public Theology

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The primary purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how the practice of pastoral counseling can become public in nature. In spite of globalization and democratization, the essential nature of the excessively competitive Korean society still reflects authoritarianism which serves as a main instrument of social evil driving numerous powerless individuals and families to irresistable helplessness. This study proposes a therapeutic intervention for the individuals whose dignity as the author of their lives have been deprived by the abuse of authoritarianism, Reauthoring the victims in the course of counseling intervention, based on the social constructionism, takes three major steps; establishment of non-authoritarian therapeutic relationship, deconstruction of authoritarianism inside and outside of oneself using the concept of externalization, and reconstruction of one`s self by actively creating the communities of co-existence. This therapeutic intervention becomes pastoral when it is based on the Christian stories and the Christian communities. Critiquing the authoritarian nature of the Korean church, however, this study argues that the Korean church needs to reconstruct the true meanings of Christian stories about human dignity and the nature of the church as a supporting community for its members to resist the dehumanizing influence in the society and culture.
