The purpose of this study was to examine how psychological independent, self-differentiation, and conflict solution strategy influence the satisfaction of marriage status among 201 married couples. First, the results show that psychological independent of parent which was divided into psychological independent of mother and father respectively has significant correlation with marriage satisfaction, but not significant enough to influence it. Second, marriage satisfaction was affected by self-differentiation, and it seems to have high level when married couples make rational decisions, restraining feelings in the context of conflicts or deal with the other party. Third, conflict solution strategy also has effects on marriage satisfaction. Whether married couples have positive or negative feelings in mind, they were the most satisfied with their marriage and get along well with each other when they exchange their feelings and try their best to get the point. Forth, psychological independent does not seem to have influence on the couples who have been married for over twenty years, and thus have little to do with their own parents emotionally and economically. As for people who has consistency in maintaining their status, they are more satisfied with their marriage as they reach higher level of self-differentiation. They also can increase their marriage satisfaction through conflict solution strategy, an active and precise way to deliver his or her feelings and thoughts, instead of insisting them. In conclusion, psychological independent is correlated with marriage satisfaction, but not as much as having influence on it especially as married couples have long been independent from their parents emotionally and materially. It can be inferred that the most important factor might be conflict solution strategy to make the other party understood and accept his or her thoughts willingly, considering the result that marriage satisfaction can be increased through improving the level of self-differentiation. This study implies that educational programme focusing more on the conflict solution strategy than self-differentiation is needed for married couples to increase marriage satisfaction.
