The purpose of this paper is to review the civic education of soldiers in the Korean Military with regard to that of the National level and to make a few suggestions for the future. The findings from the review are: 1) Civic Education has so far been considered identical to various terms such as Moral Education, Ideology Education, National Security Education, Political Education, etc. Each and every education as above is necessary to form civic education as a whole. Nonetheless, some one of them has sometimes been exceedingly emphasized as civic education not by the national consensus but by political reasons or vested academic interest. 2) Civic Education in the Military(CEM) puts too much emphasis on the process regardless of its afrermath often focused on demonstration effect and consequently ends up with mutual distrust. 3) CEM considerably tends to be of affective orientation rather than rational. Suggestions for the future are: qualified lecturers, improvement of organizational climate, education for qualities of leaders, proper term for CEM, improvement and diversification of CEM topics and contents, and investment for the basic facilities of CEM.
